Sanya holds wedding industry summit in Haitang Bay
On October 29th, 2019, the Sanya Wedding Industry Summit 2019 was held in Haitang Bay.
The purpose of the summit was to integrate wedding tourism resources catering to growing demand for wedding tourism, and to help form an industrial chain to industrialize the wedding industry.
Individuals in attendance at the forum included the following: Mr. Lu Zhiyuan, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the Hainan Provincial People’s Congress Standing Committee and Chairman of the Hainan Federation of Trade Unions; Mr. Wu Haifeng, Deputy Mayor of the Sanya Municipal People’s Government; guests from the Sanya’s tourism related industry associations; and experts in wedding industry associations in China.
At the forum, representatives from wedding industry institutions from both in and outside Hainan Province conducted discussions and exchanged ideas, with topics including the following: destination wedding planning, innovation and wedding tourism industry promotion, combining wedding celebrations and festivals, customer analysis and related wedding packages and services, and more.
Lvmama.com, a Chinese business-to-consumer-based e-tourism website, released a report titled “Sanya Wedding Tourism Big Data” during the summit. The report covered development processes and future development trends in Sanya’s wedding tourism industry.
Sanya will work to develop a well-organized wedding industrial chain with the aim of better servicing the wedding industry. In the upstream sector of the industrial chain, Sanya will organize wedding fairs, exhibitions, and wedding shows in order to help form a healthy wedding industry environment. In the midsection of the industrial chain, Sanya will cultivate a number of wedding businesses catering to destination wedding tourism, including wedding photography, wedding banquets, themed hotels, scenic spots, wedding floral supplies, car and yacht rental services, and more. In the downstream sector of the industrial chain, a number of tourism and holiday facilities and service institutions catering to honeymoon tourism will be built with high-quality and distinctive features, allowing customers to have easy access to diverse wedding products.
Sanya has become a popular wedding destination for the domestic market. Wedding travel has become an important part of the city’s tourism industry. According to official statistics, in 2018, the number of couples who chose Sanya as the site for their wedding photos reached 500,000. Total consumer spending on wedding related goods and services including wedding photography, wedding receptions, and honeymoons exceeded RMB 10 billion in 2018.
The city is also home to more than 60 luxury hotels and resorts, and 30 professional wedding companies dedicated exclusively to handling weddings and wedding receptions.
