Under the auspices of the new visa exemption policy for people from 59 countries including Russia, in recent months several new air routes have been opened between Russian cities and Sanya. Regular direct flights between Sanya and the following Russian cities were opened between October 8th and November 2nd, 2019: St. Petersburg, Samara, Krasnodar, Rostov-on-Don, Blagoveshchensk, Nizhny Novgorod, Perm, Tomsk, and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. At present, Sanya has opened 39 international and regional routes, connecting 34 overseas cities.
The continuous opening of new international air routes to Sanya, and increases in the number of overseas tourists visiting Sanya, are the result of years of joint efforts undertaken by officials at the Sanya Airport under the “Going Out” and “Invite In” policy, as well as the “Belt and Road” national development initiative, while effectively promoting the development of the tourism industry in Sanya.
