First of 2025! Arrival in Sanya!

2025-01-03

At around 9 a.m. on January 3rd, with the sound of the whistle, the Bermudian-flagged cruise ship "Gulangyu" carrying 456 passengers slowly docked at Sanya Phoenix Island International Cruise Port, marking the arrival of the first inbound international cruise ship of 2025 at Sanya Port.

The cruise ship departed from Hong Kong and will continue to Vietnam after arriving in Sanya. This route innovatively adopts a "dual home port" operating mode with passengers boarding in both Hong Kong and Sanya, providing tourists with different travel routes.

On the same day, in the joint inspection hall of Sanya Phoenix Island International Cruise Port, there was an endless stream of passengers who were ready to take the cruise ship “Gulangyu”, and a batch of passengers lined up in an orderly manner under the guidance of the immigration management police of Sanya Border Inspection Station. In order to ensure the smooth clearance of the cruise ship and passengers, Sanya Border Inspection Station has formulated a special duty program, strengthened communication and coordination with joint inspection units, cruise companies, foreign ship agencies and other units, and grasped in advance the arrival and departure time of the cruise ship and the number of passengers entering and leaving the port and other circumstances. At the same time, it strengthens the port control during the berthing of the cruise ship, and makes every effort to manage the limited area of the port during the ship's stay in Hong Kong by means of guardianship at the ladder port, fixed-point patrols and video patrols, etc., so as to ensure the safety and order of the passengers and employees boarding the ship.

"Based on the cruise ship's arrival forecast, we grasp the ship's dynamics in advance, scientifically deploy on-duty police forces, and open sufficient passenger inspection and release channels. At the same time, the 'Cruise Ship Control System' is used to effectively simplify the immigration procedures for cruise ships and their passengers, shortening port clearance time and providing an efficient, convenient, and comfortable clearance environment for a large number of inbound and outbound passengers," said Cheng Hao, leader of the first patrol team of the Sanya Border Inspection Station.

"We are from Heilongjiang to Hainan, and I think traveling by cruise ship on the 'Gulangyu' is very relaxing, allowing us to travel and play at the same time," said outbound passenger Ms. Zhou. "There are currently many cruise ship outbound travel routes to choose from, and the port clearance here is very convenient, making it very easy to travel abroad."

It is reported that the "Gulangyu" is the first luxury cruise ship independently operated by a central enterprise, with a total tonnage of 70,000 tons and a capacity of over 2,000 passengers. It is also the first international cruise ship to arrive in Sanya since the implementation of the "visa-free policy for foreign tourist groups traveling by cruise ship" in 2024. The maiden voyage of the "Gulangyu" to Sanya not only marks a "promising start" for Sanya's cruise tourism at the beginning of the new year but also represents an important opportunity for the accelerated development of Sanya's cruise industry. In the future, Sanya will welcome tourists from around the world with a more open attitude and higher-quality services.
