Sanya Joy City
Featuring over 200 retail brands, the mall boasts a high concentration of first-to-city stores and flagship stores, accounting for over 60% of its tenants. With F&B and entertainment experiences making up over 40% of the mix, it offers a dynamic leisure destination.
The design seamlessly blends tropical ecological landscapes with local cultural elements. Highlights include the Rainforest Plaza and the Rooftop Night Economy District. It stands as a premier commercial landmark, integrating shopping, dining, and entertainment into a single, vibrant destination.
Sanya Joy City
China’s First “Tropical” Joy City & Hainan’s First LEED Platinum-Certified Green Commercial Complex
Design Concept: Boundless Symbiosis
From the initial planning phase, Sanya Joy City integrated the concept of “Boundless Symbiosis,” actively introducing the wetland park ecosystem into the commercial space to create the nation’s first “Tropical Joy City.”
The architectural features—such as the three-level terrace gardens, sunken rainforest plaza, and three-dimensional waterfalls and water curtain systems—make the natural landscape the mall’s daily backdrop. This design effectively reduces energy consumption through micro-climate regulation, earning it the distinction of being the first building project in Hainan to receive LEED Platinum certification.
International Payment & Accessibility
Positioned as a truly “International Traveler-Friendly” commercial space:
Currency Exchange: As the first shopping mall in Hainan to install foreign currency exchange machines, it supports multi-currency cash exchange and withdrawals with foreign cards.
Digital Payment: The mall was the first to implement Alipay+ digital payment services, allowing international tourists to scan and pay directly using the international version of Alipay and various overseas e-wallets.
Operations: The “Self-Created Festival” Strategy
Operationally, the mall enhances urban buzz through “self-created festivals” and unique events, transforming the space into a city-life (hub) that fuses sports, socializing, art, and consumption.
Event Highlights: The mall has hosted diverse events, including tie-ins with Jay Chou’s concerts, anime expos, the debut of Unitree robots, limited “Capibara” exhibitions, immersive tech brand showcases, and cross-industry collaborations like the “Cycling-Friendly” rest stop.
Retail & Recognition
The project continuously introduces youth-oriented brands such as MUJI pop-up stores, Xiaomi Home, and (Zobon), constantly refreshing its brand matrix and thematic spaces.
Achievements: Within nine months of opening, the mall received multiple industry awards. It has established itself as Sanya’s “Island Trendy & Fun Lifestyle Hub” and is recognized by both locals and tourists as a new urban landmark.
