Taxis/Ride-Hailing Services

Taxis

Taxis are a classic point-to-point option for getting around Sanya. Vehicles are divided into Category I and Category II, with starting fares of RMB 11 and RMB 10 respectively (including the first 2.5 km), after which fares are charged by distance. Please note that a 20% night service surcharge applies for trips taken between 23:00 and 06:00. While flagging a taxi on the street is generally easy, we recommend asking your hotel front desk to assist with calling a taxi and clearly communicating your destination to the driver, helping to avoid any misunderstandings.

Convenient payment
Look out for orange taxis displaying the “Hainan Trusted Pay” logo. These vehicles are part of a pilot program and support international credit cards such as Visa and Mastercard, as well as Apple Pay via NFC tap-to-pay, offering a smooth and convenient payment experience.

Ride-Hailing Services

For many international travelers, ride-hailing apps such as DiDi are often more convenient than traditional taxis. Through the app, you can enter destinations in both Chinese and English, minimizing language barriers while viewing estimated fares and routes in real time. A wide range of vehicle options is available, from economical rides to more comfortable premium services. At the end of your trip, the fare is automatically charged to your linked Alipay or WeChat Pay account, eliminating the need for cash and making travel seamless.

Bike Sharing

Few experiences are more enjoyable than cycling along the palm-lined coastline of Coconut Dream Corridor. In Sanya, bike-sharing services are widely available—simply scan a QR code using apps such as Meituan, Qingju, or DiDi to unlock a bike and ride, with the flexibility to return it at designated locations. If you are staying at a resort hotel, many properties also offer dedicated bicycle rental services, allowing you to enjoy relaxed rides along shaded paths near your accommodation.
