Sanya airport’s phase III project begins construction

On Nov 20, Sanya Phoenix International Airport’s Phase III expansion project commenced, with an estimated completion date set for late 2025.

This project has a total investment of 2.92 billion yuan ($409 billion), and aims to meet the demands of the airport’s annual passenger throughput, which averages at 30 million passengers.

The project’s main construction components include a 120,000-square-meter T3 terminal building, seven E-class aprons, a 38,800-sq-m parking structure, a 4,500-sq-m transfer center, and supporting facilities.

Upon completion, the T3 terminal building will resemble a phoenix soaring into the sky when viewed from above. This new addition will enhance the comprehensive operational capabilities of Sanya Phoenix International Airport.
