As the full-island customs clearance operation of Hainan Free Trade Port steadily advances,

Sanya’s international tourism development shines like a dazzling new star,

radiating unprecedented brilliance

and ushering in another milestone moment.

The Sanya Tourism Development Bureau has been officially confirmed by the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA)

as the successful host of the

the hosting rights for the 2027 Pacific Asia Travel Association

Annual Summit (PAS 2027).

This achievement not only signifies Sanya’s

elevated influence on the global tourism stage

but also marks the first internationally renowned tourism organization’s annual event

confirmed to be held in Sanya

since the implementation of the Hainan Free Trade Port’s closed-border operations.

The world’s attention

will once again focus on this vibrant tropical coastal paradise.

Established in 1951, the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) stands as one of the world’s three major tourism organizations, continuously driving the development of the global tourism industry. As its flagship event, the PATA Annual Summit is widely regarded as the “barometer of Asia-Pacific tourism.” Each summit brings together government tourism agencies, provincial and municipal tourism departments, destination managers, investment institutions, and experts from numerous countries, destinations, and regions worldwide. Together, they set the industry agenda and explore future trends.

The selection of Sanya as the host city for the 2027 Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Annual Summit represents not only high recognition of Sanya’s tourism resources, hospitality capabilities, and international influence, but also a vote of confidence from the international community empowered by Hainan Free Trade Port policies. This successful bid was not achieved overnight, but rather built upon the long-standing and solid cooperative foundation between Sanya and PATA. Through the successful hosting of the 2024 and 2025 Tropical Coastal Cities Exchange events, Sanya has demonstrated exceptional capabilities in organizing international activities and showcased the unique charm of a coastal city to the ITAC. In 2026, ITAC will continue its collaboration with the Sanya Tourism Development Bureau to host the 2026 Tropical Coastal Cities Exchange, building momentum and accumulating experience for the successful delivery of the 2027 ITAC Annual Summit.

A successful bid marks the beginning of an honor, while meticulous preparation represents a solemn commitment. At the 2026 ITAC Annual Summit in South Korea this May, ITAC will formally announce that the 2027 ITAC Annual Summit will be hosted in Sanya. Seizing this opportunity, the Sanya Tourism Development Bureau will extend a warm invitation to the world: “See you in Sanya in 2027!” The Sanya Tourism Development Bureau will collaborate closely with the Pacific Asia Travel Association to prepare for the 2027 Summit with the highest standards and rigorous requirements, ensuring it becomes an international tourism event showcasing Chinese characteristics, Hainan’s unique charm, and Sanya’s appeal. From a tropical vacation paradise to a new hub for international conferences and exhibitions, Sanya is embracing global partners with greater openness and more dynamic mechanisms. In 2027, let us gather in Sanya to witness the wisdom, vitality, and shared success of global tourism!
