Sanya Signs Multiple Major Partnerships at the Asia Routes Conference

Source of Release : Sanya Tourism Development Bureau

The 22nd Asian Routes Development Conference was successfully held in Xi’an. Under the theme “Gather in Xi’an, Create the Future Together,” the conference brought together guests from the global civil aviation, tourism, and related industries, establishing a high-level platform for cooperation and exchange.

On the day of the opening ceremony, the Sanya delegation met successively with Samarkand Airlines, Maldivian Airlines, and Badi Airlines, engaging in in-depth discussions on the launch of international routes, mutual passenger referrals, and tourism promotion. Among them, Samarkand Airlines explicitly stated that it is expected to launch the “Samarkand–Sanya” route within this year (subject to actual launch conditions), adding an important Central Asian destination to Sanya’s network and further expanding the air corridors along the “Belt and Road” route.

Sanya has achieved several breakthroughs in overseas tourism promotion and international route expansion. Let’s take a look! 🎉

Official Inauguration

Two Overseas Promotion Liaison Offices

At the event, Sanya partnered with Indonesia’s Lion Air and Mongolia’s Hunnu Air to officially establish the “Sanya Tourism Overseas Promotion Liaison Office (Indonesia Branch)” and the “Sanya Tourism Overseas Promotion Liaison Office (Mongolia Branch)” in Indonesia and Mongolia, respectively. This marks a further deepening of Sanya’s strategic partnership with these two international airlines.

Lion Air has long operated the Sanya–Jakarta route. As the first regular Southeast Asian route to resume in Sanya after a three-year hiatus, this route has greatly facilitated commercial exchanges and tourism between the two destinations.

Mongolian Hunnu Air simultaneously operates two routes: Sanya–Ulaanbaatar and Ulaanbaatar–Sanya–Ulan-Ude. The Ulaanbaatar–Sanya–Ulan-Ude route is Sanya’s third passenger route under the fifth freedom of the air, effectively opening an air corridor between Sanya and the Mongolia-Russia region, and strengthening interconnectivity and in-depth cooperation among China, Mongolia, and Russia in transportation, tourism, and culture.

This designation holds profound significance. Sanya will leverage the airline’s local resource advantages to build a “two-way communication bridge” with the Indonesian and Mongolian markets, achieving mutual passenger exchange, joint brand building, and collaborative market development.

Sanya and Berlin Airport Sign MOU

Jointly Expanding the European Market

In addition to the authorization ceremony, Sanya has expanded its cooperative horizons to European hubs. The Sanya Tourism Development Bureau, in collaboration with Sanya Phoenix International Airport, formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Berlin Airport in Germany.

In the future, the three parties will engage in in-depth cooperation across multiple areas, including the joint development of international routes, the exchange of promotional resources, the sharing of aviation and tourism market information, the joint research and development of aviation and tourism products, and joint marketing and promotion. This collaboration aims to achieve a leap from “point-to-point connectivity” to “network-to-network integration” and jointly tap into the potential of Sanya’s tourism market.

Continuously Expanding

Overseas Promotion Network

Sanya continues to accelerate the expansion of its overseas tourism promotion efforts, building a comprehensive, multi-tiered international marketing network. Currently, Sanya has partnered with high-quality collaborators such as German airline Condor, the Malaysia Tourism Board, and Belarusian travel agency FUN&SUN to establish 11 Sanya Tourism Overseas Promotion Liaison Offices (including 3 promotional partners) in countries and regions including Germany, the Czech Republic, Belarus, Thailand, and Malaysia, effectively enhancing Sanya’s brand influence in European, Southeast Asian, and Russian-speaking markets.

Sanya will also move forward with establishing 12 new overseas tourism promotion liaison offices in key source markets such as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, and South Korea to drive the expansion and quality improvement of the inbound tourism market.

From “Certification” to “Signing”

Sanya’s Internationalization Gains Momentum

From the certification of liaison offices in Indonesia and Mongolia to the signing of an MOU at Berlin Airport, Sanya utilized a “certification + signing” strategy at this Asia Aviation Conference to further broaden international cooperation channels and diversify overseas promotion pathways.

Moving forward, Sanya will continue to leverage high-level exchange platforms such as the Asia Aviation Summit to deepen cooperation with global airlines, airports, and tourism organizations. The city will continuously improve its international route network, optimize its overseas promotion strategy, and consistently enhance Sanya’s reputation and influence as an international tropical coastal resort destination, thereby supporting Hainan’s development as an international tourism and consumption hub.

Sanya is embracing the world with an even more open attitude.
