A delegation from the Taiwan Tour Leaders Association visits Sanya to explore new opportunities for cooperation through targeted collaboration!

In April, Sanya welcomed a special group of “tourism experience officers” as a delegation from the Taiwan Tour Guide Association arrived in the city. Representatives from local tourism-related enterprises and the Taiwanese tour guides gathered for a substantive symposium.

Following a familiarization tour by leading Taiwanese travel agencies in March, this marks another significant step in Sanya’s efforts to “deepen its engagement with the Taiwan market” in 2026. Coinciding with the first year of the Hainan Free Trade Port’s island-wide customs clearance operations, representatives from the cultural and tourism sectors of Hainan and Taiwan engaged in face-to-face exchanges and point-to-point matchmaking, propelling cross-strait cultural and tourism cooperation from “mutual pursuit” toward “deep integration.”

Unlike ordinary sightseeing tours, this delegation consisted entirely of seasoned, frontline tour leaders from Taiwan! Armed with keen insights into the needs of Taiwanese tourists, they conducted on-site assessments of the latest developments in Sanya’s tourism sector, laying a solid foundation for future targeted recommendations.

During the symposium, both sides engaged in in-depth discussions regarding the iterative upgrades of Sanya’s tourism resources, as well as favorable policies such as new duty-free shopping regulations and measures to facilitate inbound tourism. At the event, representatives from 30 tourism-related enterprises—including the Hilton Sanya Yalong Bay, Atlantis, and Wuzhizhou Island—took the stage to promote their offerings and engaged in lively discussions on practical topics such as “profiles and preferences of Taiwanese tourists” and “product upgrades and improvements.”

Sanya boasts numerous international brand hotels, making it highly attractive to Taiwanese tourists who value quality accommodations; the absence of language barriers and shared cultural roots provide a sense of security for middle-aged and elderly travelers as well as families; similar culinary tastes, a climate similar to Tainan yet more comfortable, and the ability to travel light all contribute to a relaxed and pleasant journey. Sanya has been a popular destination in the Taiwanese market for many years, deeply loved by senior citizens, families with children, and independent travelers.

Starting in April, the “Mountain and Sea Invitation: The Exquisite Beauty of Hainan Sanya” cultural tourism campaign has made a strong debut at Songjiang Nanjing Station, a key hub of the Taipei MRT. With an average daily passenger volume exceeding 71,000, this station precisely targets high-potential commuters and business travelers.

In collaboration with Taiwan’s renowned travel platform “Kele Travel,” Sanya leveraged its reach of over one million followers to publish posts, short videos, and advertisements via LINE. Simultaneously, the official Sanya tourism webpage was revamped, and capitalizing on rising temperatures and long-holiday demand, the city launched a major “Water Activities Series” of themed products.

From inviting top Taiwanese travel agencies to visit Sanya in March, to targeted advertising on the Taipei MRT and online influencer channels in April, to the recent on-site familiarization tour and symposium with the Taiwan Tour Leaders Association—Sanya’s marketing efforts have never stopped.

Moving forward, Sanya will continue to participate in international exhibitions such as the Taipei International Travel Fair, and will invite Taiwanese KOLs, more travel agencies, and tour leader delegations to visit in person.
