On May 13, Beijing time, at the 2026 Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Annual Summit held in Gyeongju, South Korea, PATA officially announced that Sanya has been selected as the host city for the 2027 PATA Annual Summit!This is not merely a handover of hosting rights; it also signifies that Sanya will make its voice heard loud and clear on the highest-level platform of the Asia-Pacific tourism industry.

A Premier Platform: Sanya Makes Its Mark

From May 11 to 14, a delegation from Sanya traveled to Gyeongju, South Korea, to actively participate in this “feast of ideas” for the Asia-Pacific tourism industry.

As the most influential exchange platform for the tourism industry in the Asia-Pacific region, this year’s summit brought together government agencies, international tourism organizations, leading enterprises, and industry experts from around the world. The summit focused on cutting-edge topics such as tourism resilience, digital marketing, and sustainable tourism, and the Sanya delegation’s schedule was packed to the brim.

The Sanya Tourism Development Bureau, together with Liu Shijun, Executive Director of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), and Huang Shunhua, Ambassador for Greater China at the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), extended an invitation to tourists worldwide!

During the “China Outbound and Inbound Tourism: An In-Depth Analysis” salon session, representatives from the Sanya Tourism Development Bureau drew on their frontline promotional experience to share with international industry peers the latest trends in Sanya’s inbound tourism market, progress in developing new air routes, and achievements in policy facilitation.

“Expanding the “Circle of Friends”: International Cooperation Bears Fruit

Participating in the summit was not merely a showcase but a prime opportunity to deepen cooperation. During the delegation’s visit, they engaged in intensive networking with international partners:

Partnering with GSTC (Global Sustainable Tourism Council): As a newly admitted member, Sanya discussed major initiatives with GSTC, including establishing the GSTC China office in Sanya and bidding to host the GSTC 2028 Global Sustainable Tourism Congress. In the future, Sanya aims not only to be “beautiful” but also to become a “top performer” in global sustainable tourism.

Expanding New B2B Channels: The delegation held intensive meetings with international organizations such as the Tourism Partnership Organization (TPO) and industry representatives from the HBX Group, engaging in discussions on targeted promotion in the South Korean market, conversion of international tourist flows, and the development of B2B channels. Sanya’s international “circle of friends” is growing ever larger.

Zhang Hao, Deputy Director of the Sanya Tourism Development Bureau, and Kim Nam-il, President of the North Gyeongsang Province Culture and Tourism Corporation, jointly promoted Sanya to global tourists and extended an invitation!

 

In addition, the Sanya Tourism Development Bureau granted an exclusive interview to the internationally renowned travel media outlet Travel And Tour World, highlighting Sanya’s coastal resorts, duty-free shopping, and marine tourism to overseas audiences, while addressing international travelers’ top concerns regarding travel convenience and product experiences.
