Sanya Establishes Tourism Promotion Liaison Office in Hong Kong with Wing On Travel

Representatives from the Sanya Municipal Bureau of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television and Sports and the Sanya Tourism Board visited Hong Kong Wing On Travel Service Limited on August 4 for talks on strengthening tourism cooperation. During the meeting, the two sides formally established the Sanya Tourism Promotion Liaison Office (Hong Kong SAR, China). Through Wing On Travel’s local platforms and distribution channels, the new office will help Sanya better understand changes in the Hong Kong and Macao visitor markets, conduct more targeted local marketing and promotion, and explore new opportunities to expand its reach in both markets.

Wing On Travel provided an overview of its corporate development, business portfolio and tourism operations, with a particular focus on its strategy and product offerings in the inbound tourism sector. The two sides also held in-depth discussions on inbound tourism promotion, product enhancement, media communications and other areas of potential cooperation. A representative of the Sanya Tourism Board said the meeting marked a valuable opportunity for both sides to build on their respective strengths and expand future collaboration.

The Sanya Tourism Board has previously established 24 tourism promotion liaison offices across 15 countries and regions as part of its continuing efforts to expand the destination’s international marketing network. Building on this network, the new liaison office established with Wing On Travel will provide an important channel through which Sanya can connect with local travelers and the tourism industry. It will also serve as a strategic platform for deeper regional cooperation and sustained destination promotion in Hong Kong. Through ongoing collaboration under the liaison-office framework, the two sides will bring Sanya’s tourism information and travel products to a wider audience in Hong Kong and Macao, while supporting future initiatives to encourage two-way visitor flows and develop joint destination-branding campaigns.

The cooperation comes during the peak booking period for summer outbound travel. Sanya has also partnered with Trip.com to launch the “Mainland Experts” Sanya Summer Sale campaign for the Hong Kong market. Running throughout the peak summer season from July to September, the campaign is presented under the Cantonese-language slogan “Waiting for You in Sanya”. It offers Hong Kong residents an affordable and experience-rich tropical island getaway. The campaign includes high-value discount vouchers for flights and hotel stays, as well as advance-purchase packages at luxury hotels in Sanya offering savings of up to 63%. Participating properties include premium beachfront resorts and upscale international and domestic hotel brands. Responding to the growing global popularity of sports-oriented travel, the campaign also features a curated selection of “Sportcation” products—a blend of sports and vacation experiences—covering tennis, pickleball, paddleboarding, surfing and other activities. More than 200 promotional travel products are available across multiple categories, including flights, accommodation, advance-purchase hotel packages, attraction tickets and leisure experiences. The extensive selection is designed to meet the varied travel needs of different customer segments and stimulate interest in Sanya among travelers from Hong Kong and Macao.

The meeting represented not only a proactive joint effort to explore opportunities in the Hong Kong and Macao tourism markets, but also an important step in establishing Sanya’s sustained tourism presence across these markets and internationally. Looking ahead, the two sides will accelerate the implementation of cultural and tourism cooperation projects. By combining global resources with strong local operational capabilities, they will expand Sanya’s brand reach, strengthen its destination-promotion network and support the city’s development into a world-class tourism destination.
