Everyday Amenities and Services

To help your stay in Sanya run smoothly, we have put together practical information on public toilets, convenience stores, laundry services and charging your phone on the go.

Public Toilets

Finding a toilet: Public toilets are available at tourist attractions, beachfront parks, shopping centres, transport hubs and major public areas, and are generally free to use. Follow the signs or search for “public toilet” in a map app such as Amap, Baidu Maps or Apple Maps. Search results may vary depending on the app’s language settings.

Practical tips: Soap, hand dryers and toilet paper may not be available at every location. Carry a small pack of tissues or wet wipes. Some toilets have tissue vending machines.

24-Hour Convenience Stores

Where to shop: Lawson, Meiyijia and other convenience stores can be found in Sanya. Some operate around the clock; check the opening hours of the individual branch before visiting.

What you can buy: Typical products include drinking water, tropical snacks, toiletries, sunscreen, insect repellent, rainwear and ready-to-eat meals, such as oden and boxed meals. Selection varies by store. WeChat Pay and Alipay are widely accepted, while acceptance of international credit cards depends on the retailer and its payment facilities.

Self-Service Laundry

At your accommodation: Many mid-range and upscale hotels and resorts offer laundry services, and some also provide dry cleaning. Some smaller hotels, serviced apartments and guesthouses have self-service laundry facilities. Ask your accommodation about availability, opening hours and charges.

Local laundry services: For specialist cleaning or laundry outside your accommodation, search your map app for “dry cleaner” or “self-service laundry”. Check the service offered and the expected turnaround time before dropping off your clothes.

Power Bank Rental

Where to rent: Power bank rental stations can be found in restaurants, convenience stores, cafés, hotel lobbies and rest areas at tourist attractions.

How it works: Scan the station’s QR code with a supported app, such as WeChat or Alipay, and follow the on-screen instructions. Check the rental rate, any deposit or authorisation requirements, and return locations before borrowing. Units typically have built-in cables, which may include Lightning, USB-C and Micro-USB; check compatibility with your phone.

Return the power bank to a compatible station shown by the rental service, following the on-screen instructions. Make sure a return slot is available and confirm that the rental has ended successfully.

Sorting Your Waste

Follow the labels: Waste bins in public places may provide separate compartments for recyclables and general waste. Where additional categories are available, follow the signs on the bins.

Dispose of waste responsibly: Place empty plastic bottles and drinks cans in recycling bins, and used tissues in general waste. Put fruit peel and food scraps in a food-waste bin where provided; otherwise, follow the instructions at the venue. Help keep Sanya’s beaches, parks and attractions clean.
