Phoenix Ridge, Sanya: Breathtaking Cliffs and Butterflies in Your Stomach

I thought I’d seen Hainan... until I climbed Phoenix Ridge in Sanya. This place literally takes your breath away: you walk along a path around the mountain with a sheer 400-meter drop right beneath your feet. Your heart skips a beat, but you just can’t stop moving. 😍

🌿 A Walk Above the Clouds

The summit trail is a roughly 2km trek through a lush tropical forest. The trees rustle, the birds sing, and the air is fresh and cool. But the most powerful moments are when the path opens up to the cliff’s edge. Looking down, you see the precipice below, while in the distance, all of Sanya unfolds—four bays and Phoenix Island sitting in the water. It’s in these moments you realize why this place is called the "observation deck of the entire city." 🌆🌊
I walked slowly, clutching the handrails, yet I could still feel that mix of pure thrill and a hint of fear deep inside. It’s more than just a walk; it’s an emotion you’ll want to experience over and over again. 💓

🚠 How I Got to the Top

· 🚖 Took a taxi to the entrance of Phoenix Ridge Sea Oath Scenic Area (Jiyang District, Sanya).
· 🚡 Hopped on the air-conditioned cable car for a 12-minute ride over the forest. The views from there are already a separate thrill!
· 🥾 At the top, I completed the loop trail: the glass platform, the "Nine Turns" Bridge, the Crystal Chapel, and several panoramic terraces.
