The 7th Hainan Island International Film Festival Press Conference Held

On November 25, the 7th Hainan Island International Film Festival announced at a press conference that the festival, jointly hosted by China Media Group and the Hainan Provincial People’s Government, will be held in Sanya from December 3 to 9.

This year’s festival will feature an opening ceremony, the Golden Coconut Awards competition, film screenings, the Golden Coconut Forum, the Green Coconut Project pitching program, Golden Coconut Master Classes, and the closing ceremony and awards presentation. Both the opening and closing ceremonies will once again take place at Phoenix Island, Sanya.

In terms of submissions, the festival received a record 4,564 films from 119 countries and regions across the Golden Coconut Awards competition and screening sections. Films will compete for 10 major awards, with outstanding works also receiving Special Mentions from the Jury and the Organizing Committee.

The Jury President is Marco Müller, with Juliette Binoche serving as Festival Ambassador and Lin Chi-ling as Screening Ambassador. Notably, world-renowned director James Cameron and his creative team will attend the China premiere of Avatar: Ashes in Sanya on December 8, bringing audiences back to the magnificent world of Pandora.

The festival’s main visual poster was also unveiled at the press conference.
