The 6th Asian Beach Games Sanya 2026
In April 2026, Sanya finally meets the Asian Beach Games. Where coconut breezes and ocean vistas embrace competitive fervour, Sanya will unveil a grand Asian sports and cultural gala that embodies “fashion, green, technology, and vitality.”
What are the Asian Beach Games?
The Asian Beach Games are one of the five major comprehensive sports events under the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). Since their inception in 2005, they have grown into Asia’s largest multi-sport beach extravaganza.
From the inaugural edition in Bali, Indonesia (2008), the Games have travelled to Muscat (Oman), Haiyang (China), Phuket (Thailand), and Da Nang (Vietnam). In 2026, the 6th Asian Beach Games will land in Sanya, China, for a nine-day celebration that showcases the boundless allure of this tropical coastal city to the world.

Reading Sanya’s Symbols
Mascot – “Yaya” the Eld’s Deer
Inspired by Hainan’s first-class national protected wildlife – the Eld’s deer – a creature unique to the island, embodying agility, exuberance and nature. The name “Yaya” echoes Sanya and signifies close bonds among Asian peoples.
Torch – “Tide Surging”
The torch’s design draws from surging waves, presenting a dynamic and powerful silhouette. Its colours transition from bright yellow (symbolising intense sunshine) to deep sea blue, reflecting the striving spirit of “rising from the South China Sea, chasing dreams at the ABG.”
Emblem – “Tide Rising in the South China Sea”
The emblem artfully combines waves, sand and athletic forms. The red sun represents the OCA, while the interwoven lines embody the deep connection and exchange of athletes from across Asia in Sanya.
Travel with the Tournament
Between events, these authentic experiences near competition venues will complete your ABG journey.
Tianya Haijiao (Ends of the Earth): More than a landmark – a battleground. This scenic spot hosts major水上 and beach volleyball events. After watching, step onto the “Sky Mirror” or enjoy a sea‑view coffee at Tianya Bookstore.
Sanya Bay: Home to the longest sunset coastline. Its gentle sands are the main venue for beach athletics. At dusk, photograph a “tangerine sea” sunset – the most romantic Sanya lifestyle.
